What Is Temp Mail? Temporary, Disposable and Throwaway Email Explained
A temp mail address is a real email address that works for a short time and then disappears. You open the site, you get an address, mail sent to it shows up in an inbox in your browser, and after a while the address and its mail are gone. There is no signup, no password, and nothing to install.
All the names mean the same thing
You will see it called temporary email, disposable email, throwaway email, burner email and 10 minute mail. They are different names for the same idea: an address you use once and throw away. On TempMailNet the address lasts 60 minutes, and you can extend it by 60 minutes at a time before it expires.
How it works
It works like normal email on the receiving side. You copy the address, paste it into a signup form, and the site sends its confirmation mail or code to that address. You read it in the temp inbox, usually within seconds. The address can only receive mail, it cannot send any.
What it is for
Temp mail is for the signups you do not want tied to your real inbox. A free trial, a forum account, a download that asks for an email first, a one-time password for an app you are trying out. The point is simple: your real inbox stays clean, and the site that got your temp address cannot keep emailing you after the address is gone.
What it is not for
Do not use temp mail for anything you must not lose. That means no banking, no password recovery, and no account you will need to get back into later. Once the address expires, its inbox is gone for good, and there is no way to recover it. If the account matters, use a permanent address instead. TempMailNet offers free permanent email accounts for that, with an inbox, aliases and storage, on the same site.
Temp mail and your privacy
Every signup asks for an email, and every email you hand out is one more list your address can end up on. A temp address breaks that chain. The site you signed up for only ever sees an address that stops working after an hour. That is the whole idea, and it is why temp mail has become one of the most used privacy tools online.
